What You'll Do
As Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for the core platform infrastructure that powers Whisperly. You will design and build the systems that process sensitive compliance data at enterprise scale, reliably, securely, and fast.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that power enterprise compliance workflows
- Architect and operate data pipelines that ingest, transform, and expose compliance data reliably at scale
- Own the reliability, performance, and observability of core platform infrastructure
- Collaborate with AI engineers to design backend systems that support ML model serving and integration
- Define and enforce API contracts that product and frontend teams depend on
- Lead technical design reviews and contribute to architecture decisions across the engineering team
- Implement security and data-handling practices appropriate for sensitive enterprise compliance data
What We're Looking For
Required
- 5+ years building production backend systems at scale
- Deep expertise in API design (REST and/or GraphQL)
- Strong experience with relational databases, query optimisation, and data modelling
- Experience designing and operating data pipelines in production
- Track record of owning reliability: monitoring, alerting, incident response
- Comfortable in small, autonomous engineering teams
Nice to Have
- Background in fintech, regtech, or enterprise SaaS
- Experience integrating ML model serving into backend infrastructure
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures and message queues
- Knowledge of data privacy regulations and secure data handling
- Experience with multi-tenant SaaS architecture
